Staff are charming and accommodating. People queue quite happily for hours to secure the excellent breads and pastries. Breakfast options range from $8-$12. The chocolate room was first established in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in 2006 and has quickly grown to become the leading brand in the chocolate café market.

The Cupcake Bakery

*It's been a fantastic BUSY BUSY month at The Cupcake Bakery! Moving city, building not one but two new stores all serving our amazing cupcakes! *Collins street was first to open the second week of July. With our new lounge area it is perfect for coffee on cold winter days. The week was spent entertaining our new customers and satisfying their tastebuds! Lines out the door, selling cakes and having fun sums up our first week!*Melbourne Central was next to open, and another successful week! Located in the busy shopping centre, there wasn't a moment to spare! Menzie's lane proved to be the perfect location for us, drop by on your way to work!*Melbourne being the heart of food and fashion, we go hand in hand! Stokers Coffee Lounge

Open only at night, Stoker's is a step back in time. Dark wood tables with bench seats, low lighting, and soft ambient music in the background all contribute to a relaxed environment where people can come to have a chat over a couple of pancakes and a hot chocolate. Selections of savoury and sweet pancakes are written on a chalk board, just above the open kitchen where batter sizzles on the stove. An open fire sits in the middle of the room, and one wall is adorned with a retro rendition of a automatic pancake factory, something Stokers definately is not.

It states on the door, "No Alcohol" and "Cash Only", so keep this in mind before visiting.

Monarch Cake Shop

Monarch Cakes has been baking from the same recipes for over 75 years. Many of the recipes originated from the original shop in Poland and were brought to Australia and have been used here ever since. In the past, a cake was made from fresh, raw ingredients such as butter, flour, eggs, and sugar. Today many have sacrificed that old fashioned flavour in order to bake more quickly and cheaply. At Monarch Cakes we would never dream of doing that!

We bake the same way our grandmothers did, using the ingredients in their most natural form. Our cakes are made with the highest grade butter and sugar and we never use substitutes or premixes. This is evident in the way the cakes taste.

Most of the recipes come from Eastern Europe: Austria, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, and a few more recent editions from the French.
