Looking back now, it's easy to say that High Tech Burrito was ahead of its time. It was food created for the next generation of customers, those seeking an alternative to unhealthy fast food. It was food for people who knew that a $1 meal simply couldn't mean quality.Back in the 80's, there was nowhere to go for a quick, high quality, nutritious meal. Nowhere, that is, except High Tech Burrito in San Rafael, California. With a clean open kitchen in a small location, one guy thought that tortillas could hold much more than just beans and rice. This guy created gourmet burritos and tacos with exotic flavors and unique fillings, all made to order. His burritos won many awards - and, more importantly, loyal customers from all over California and beyond. Two decades, many locations, and millions of burritos later, High Tech Burrito is known as The Original Gourmet Burrito...and we are still growing.High Tech Burrito has now arrived in Australia - right here on Glenferrie road, Hawthorn.< Read More

At first glance a plate of Vietnamese food might look a lot like Chinese food, but that impression will disappear after the first taste. In fact, the essence of Vietnamese cuisine may be best understood in contrast to Chinese food. Politically Vietnam spent centuries resisting the dominance of Chinese culture, and that resistance finds full expression in Vietnamese food.Where the Chinese love to use generous portions of peanut and sesame oil, the Vietnamese go to incredible lengths to avoid using any oil whatsoever. Where the Chinese love to stir-fry and deep-fry, the Vietnamese prefer to simmer, steam or eat food raw.

Leaving Italy behind in the 1920s, Guiseppe Codognotto passed through Melbourne to find nowhere for Italians to eat and congregate. Resolving this, 'The Italian workers' club' in Little Bourke Street was established and became the hub for Melbourne's Italian migrant community. When Guiseppe moved the club to 23 Bourke Street in 1932, it became 'The Italian Society'. Having run non stop as an Italian restaurant on the site ever since, The Society is one of Melbourne's oldest Italian dining institutions.
Since the early days, the venue has undergone several incarnations. 'Italian' was dropped from the name in the 40s to avoid war time anti-Italian sentiment. During this time, many Italians, if they weren't interned, headed to Lygon Street where a strong Italian community was developing. At this time, the Society's appeal opened up to local Melbournians who came in to try, (many for their first time) the Italian food and hospitality provided by Guiseppe's son Rino and daughter Read More

Mandalas are spiritual art. The word "mandala" originated from the cultural language of Sanskrit and simply means "circle". The circle symbolizes many things including inner wholeness of self and the universe. The outlying square symbolises the physical world, where the four gates bring together the boundless thoughts of love, compassion, sympathy and calmness. Drawing inspiration from the Mandala, we strive to serve your gastronomical taste to the fullest, here at our restaurant. Just like the monks who put so much rigor and discipline into preparing Mandalas, we too have put great care and attention in preparing your meal. We hope you have an enjoyable experience here at Mandala Restaurant.

In Australia today, Taco Bill is synonymous with Mexican food as it is the longest established and most respected Mexican restaurant family in the country, having survived and prospered in the competitive hospitality industry for over forty years. The company's beginnings were simple, with its founder (Taco) Bill Chilcote, coming to Australia in 1967 from the border of Mexico and California with just a corn grinder and a tortilla machine. Bill started producing tortillas and corn chips and opened the first Taco Bill Mexican restaurant on Queensland's Gold Coast before heading south, opening firstly in Bondi, Sydney and next at Armadale in Melbourne.
Over the ensuing years, Taco Bill has created a menu which offers a wide variety of authentic and traditional Mexican cuisine that has truly developed a loyal and growing following in this country.
As Taco Bill's popularity increased, the company has attracted interest from many people wanting to establish their own Taco Read More

Vegetarian cuisine has developed with the demands and needs of society. Utilising natural ingredients such as gluten, soya bean, mushroom and yam, we have now created perfect meat replacements in our delicious dishes. With the help of various herbs and spices we have transformed these vegetarian ingredients into 'roast duck', 'chicken', 'fish', 'beef', 'prawn' and a whole myriad of mock meats. Our accomplished chef has been a vegetarian for 20 years and has been cooking vegetarian cuisine for over 15 years in world class restaurants in many countries. He specialises in catering for large functions such as weddings, birthdays, funerals and parties. He has also catered for numerous events at Chinese Temples and function halls.Vegie Hut was established in 1997 serving only 20 customers. Our customer base has since grown to over 500, largely due to our talented chef's delicious and exciting vegetarian food. In the 1950's The Amiconi family opened a small eatery on 359 Victoria Street, West Melbourne, which was previously a barber saloon. This lovely Italian couple decided to introduce their own home cooking style to the locals- who in those days were the "bohemians" of North & West Melbourne and mostly university students and their professors.
The cooking was very basic and very labour intensive as all flavours were created as if they were cooking for their own family members. They always prepared their food with patience and "from the heart." And it still is...
In the early 60's, their son Guy and his wife Paula took over the operation as Guy's parents decided to take their well deserved rest. Guy introduced a new level of interest to Amiconi, attracting many people from professions such as justice and politics. Amiconi in the 60's maintained a quiet profile, yet a steady flow of regulars.
In 1982, Michael and his brother Angelo formed a partnership to allo Read More
